About Us

We are two high school sweethearts who lost touch for 30 years. We reunited in 2021, which brought Jeff back to the Columbia Gorge from Southern Oregon, along with his rescue pup Darby, a Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff). Jeff had adopted Darby as a puppy. He had been given to a shelter when his owner lost their home in the tragic Camp Fire in Northern California in 2018. Darby was an adorable big puppy and now, he weighs 170 lbs.

 

For a long time, we found it difficult to find collars that are big and durable enough, or leashes that are designed well for his size. This inspired us to solve these problems for ourselves and other owners of very large dogs. Together, we founded Giant Dog Gear in 2023 with the desire to create high quality gear for giant dog breeds like Darby.

We are both originally from the beautiful Columbia Gorge area. We love taking Darby out to enjoy the many rivers, lakes, and trails in this stunning area. We also love going to the Coast, cooking great food, going to live music shows, making new things, and getting outside as much as we can.
